To me this case is kind of the Chernobyl of unmonitored data collection. I hope it will have similar effects so that people start to care for data collected by companies and those companies will be regulated more effectively by independent international bodies. By now the data is governed by private businesses and state legislatures that seek the data for themselves. Over here in Germany where I live we have the so called "Informationelle Selbstbestimmung" which means translated something like informational self-determination or self-rule. We have to elaborate on that.
Lets start bulding the W3C of data collection and devise standards for entities collecting data.
